The oil pressure screen is provided to filter from the oil any solid particles that may have passed through the suction screen in the sump. After being filtered in the pressure screen chamber, the oil is fed through a drilled passage to the oil relief valve, located in the upper right side of the crankcase in front of the accessory housing. 1-2, The normal oil pressure range for most Lycoming engines is between 60 to 90 pounds per square inch (psi). This range is indicated by the green arc on the oil pressure gauge. The maximum oil pressure allowed for short durations is 115 psi on most models. The maximum allowable pressure has increased over the years from 100 to 115 psi.

11/30/2014  · Oil pressure on my 70 hour Lycoming YO-320-D1A seemed high. I was getting 90 psi WOT on climb out and 65 psi at an idle of 600rpm. Lycoming quotes a high limit of 85 psi and I’d expect around 50 psi at idle. I lowered the pressure using the adjustment screw but found that turning it fully CCW, my idle pressure only came down to 57 psi at 600 rpm.

6/3/2011  · I own a 1979 Piper Warrior II and the oil pressure is on the high side in the red. The engine oil temperature is in the green but the pressure is in the red. I’ve let the engine warm up to operating temps but the pressure stays in the red? I’m having my mechanic look at it but I would like heads up explanation before I consult with him.

4/17/2012  · My Honda Civic had a flickkering oil pressure warning light. I checked the oil pressure with a mechanics oil pressure gauge and found it at 2.5 psi. (at any rpm). The problem was a chip of aluminum under the relief seat. With that chip removed, it now has the normal 70 psi. Took all day to get to the relief valve.

10/27/2009  · Lycoming IO-360 A1B High Oil Pressure At start up the oil pressure red lines on my engine. After it warms up it starts to come down. The previous owner said this was normal and had always done it. It is apparently pushing out the front seal. Not normal to be sure. Does anyone else have this experience with this motor?
